Canyon Springs Cross Country had a successful day as the first annual San Diego River Park Invitational!
The Cougars have a total of 33 runners race, many for the first time and set over many new PR’s on the season.
The Boys were led by Chrystian Barrales-Garcia, who set a notable new PR, running 3 miles under 16:00 and securing a new personal best of 15:55. Chrystian is the first runner from Canyon Springs in 7 years to run under 16 minutes for three miles. This is followed closely behind by David Hernandez, who ran a time of 16:05. The Boys Varsity overall placed 7th as a team out of 20 schools.
The Girls were led by Jazmin Cervantes (20:55) and Jayde Esparza who ran a personal best of 22:07, and helped show strong performances in the Varsity Girls race.
Overall, the Cougars had a very productive day in San Diego. Cross Country is taking a three week break before being back in action in Indio! Lots of work left to do in the meantime!
